Life in Korea: Fun and Free Things To Do in Seoul

I love that there are so many fun and often free things to do in South Korea.  It's definitely a country that promotes tourism with it's quirky parks and museums just about every where.  Living in South Korea has really opened up my eyes to venturing out and seeing the country because of the "free99" stature when heading out for a day trip.  This is especially so on Jeju Island with the UNESCO World Heritage sites which are highly up-kept, with free admittance or highly reduced cost of admittance.   While there are lots to be seen on Jeju Islandand the other neighboring islands, every so often I like to escape to Seoul and get into the rhythm of big city life.  On my last visit to the metropolitan city, I did these three things that was pretty amazing.

#1 Youido Full Gospel Church

In the United States there are several mega churches;  Joel Osteen, Bishop T.D. Jakes and one of my favorite pastors ever, A.R. Bernard all conduct services at mega churches.  However, it's South Korea that's home to the largest church in the world.  I had to see it!  And it's huge!

How to get there:  Seoul Subway, Yeouinaru Station (exit 1).  Wear your walking shoes, it's at least 15 minutes walking.  Just keep going straight.  When you pass the coffee shop next to the convenience store, you're close.

#2  Banpo Bridge

I got totally lost trying to get to this bridge as there is one that's right at exit 1 from Donjak Station.  I ended up walking a good twenty-five minutes to get to the right bridge.  Worth it!  I got there just as the show was starting when it wasn't very crowded.  It's a very chill atmosphere.  I believe the show is on all throughout the day, but I'd suggest going at night.

How to get there:  Seoul Subway, Dongjak Station (line 4, exit 1).  When you exit the subway station, you will make a right.  There's a bridge that's really close, it's not that one, it's the next one.

# 3 Cheonggyecheon Stream

A great place to take a book mid-day or mid-aftermoon in the Spring, Summer or Fall.  Or even a place to hang out with some friends on a cool evening.  The atmosphere is definitely one to relax in with water running down stream.  It's very peaceful with plenty of photo opps.  Take a nap! Take a book! Take yourself!  This is place is a winner!!

How to get there:  Seoul Subway, take Gwanghwamun Station (line 5, exit 5).  Make a left, it's about  a block up on the left.
